The goal of our literature review is to synthesize past findings on our research questions. Organized in seven sections, the review provides relevant background information that shapes our research methods and findings. Each section addresses a different aspect of the research, including understanding environmental justice, the history of Hartford and the MIRA incinerator, the health and environmental impacts of incinerators, environmental justice policy and remediation, and finally, community voices and organizing for environmental justice. Click on the drop-down menu or the Table of Contents below to access each section and learn more. The full list of citations can be found under References.
