Description

The Art Box is a collection of murals that have been created by a variety of artists located on Park Street. The first Mural was created with the “Changemakers” organization alongside Lindaluz Carrillo and Mina Elise. It features names of changemakers and iconic symbols of the community. It has since been painted over and tagged. The second piece is by a local artist named Kayla Farrell which is a stylized piece featuring black and brown women, Farrell plays with composition and color throughout her pieces. The third piece is a mural that reads “Estamos A La Orilla Del Mundo, Trabajaremos Juntos Para Sobrevivir” which translates to “We are on the edge of the world. We will work together to survive together" this piece was commissioned by the Hartford Public Library and has since been moved to the art box. The last piece was created in 2021 over the course of three days. The mural is the “Tahino Fertility Goddess” and features a simple depiction of the Goddess in white paint.
