Description: VEO VEO is a bilingual design studio in Hartford, CT focused on visual thinking as a tool to advance equity, social justice, and access to the arts.

Jasmin Agosto: La Sala Femme, Winter 2019
Description: The fourth installment of La Sala Femme. A performative living room for the stories of black femmes, women of color, and non-binary and queer artist of color. It features live music, poetry, dance, and art. This event serves to create an inclusive space for a powerful community of colored artist to display and share their craft.

Ever Melo: Latino Window Display Designer, Fall 2018
Description: A local creative window display designer and artist. Taking the ordinary to extraordinary through his unique perspective in fashion design.

Carlos Hernandez Chavez: Latino Painter and Musician
Description: A local visual artists, muralist, musician, photographer, arts educator and arts and humanities activist. Located in the main atrium of Hartford City Hall, a colorful mural created by Chávez tells the story of his family’s migrant-worker roots.

Martin Luther King Jr. Mural

Description: “The beloved community is a framework for the future,” painted on the North End Church of Christ on in Hartford, is themed on Martin Luther King Jr.’s principles of nonviolence. The King mural is the fourth in a planned series of six CTCN-sponsored murals in the city. It was created and designed with the help of local youth and CT artist Corey Pane.

Description: Created by Edwin Sepulveda, a native of Puerto Rico, who is based in Orlando, Fl.  “Music is the link between cultures, that sharing of knowledge through music” He was inspired by a trip he took to Ecuador.

RiseUp Community Mural, Hartford

Description: Mural created by a youth advocacy program. Local youth contributed to the mural design and the actual construction of the piece.

Park Street, Hartford,  Summer 2009
Description: One of four works of public art commissioned by Real Art Ways for Hartford’s Parkville and Frog Hollow neighborhoods as part of their Real Public 2009 initiative. Created by a local Hispanic artist Sofia Maldonado. It has become a staple work of art in the community as a long term/permanent installation.

Pepón Osorio “En la Barbería no se Llora”, Summer 1994
Description: Created by Puerto Rican artist as a big art installation in the center of a local Hispanic neighborhood, Park St. It showcases the artist perceived center of Latino male culture, the barbershop. The installation is aimed at questioning identity, masculinity, culture, and attitudes.
