This newspaper institution is relatively new; CT Mirror was established in the year 2010. Although compromised of ~20 employees, the news publication offers a variety of online features aside from news articles such as online puzzle games, podcast, a “Student Voice” section, and much more. Given that they’re an online publication, the CT Mirror promotes their publications through a mix of social media platforms, newsletters, and their own CTMirror mobile application.
“[The] Connecticut Mirror is the state’s trusted source for in-depth news and reporting on public policy, government, and politics” (CT Mirror’s “About Us”) serves as the company’s mission statement.
Reported by our community partner, the majority of the Connecticut Mirror’s readership consist of primarily of older individuals within the white demographic. This demographic skew suggests a readership base with a more mature perspective, potentially reflective of a longstanding engagement with the publication’s in-depth coverage of Connecticut’s political and social landscapes. The Mirror decided to join the Liberal Arts Action Lab with the goal of diversifying their readership in order for state and local news to reach more of the population.
