Region of Origin 

 

Native Language

We found that 68% of respondents reported being from South America, 28% from North America, and 4% (1 person/family) from Asia. Seventeen out of 29 respondents are native Spanish speakers, five speak French/Creole, one speaks Arabic, and one speaks Portuguese.

 

Age

The ages of our survey respondents varied between the age range of 18 and 65+. Out of 29 respondents, 24% are between the ages of 36 and 45. 17% are between 46-55. Another 17% are aged 65 and older. 13% are between the ages of 18-25. 10% are between the ages of 26-35. Around 3% are aged 56-65.

 

Resources Used At JH

Over 75% of respondents use the English Classes resource that Jubilee House provides. Around 5% reported they use citizenship prep, 5% job search/application assistance, and 5% test prep. Around 2% use childcare services and 2% use GED tutoring.

 

Travel Method & Length

We found that most respondents walk or travel by car to Jubilee House. Along with that, we found that travel length to Jubilee House varies across respondents. 9 out of 29 respondents report their travel length being 10 minutes. 6 out of 29 report 5 minutes as their travel length, and 4 out of 29 report 20 minutes as their travel length.

 

Interest in Music

We asked survey respondents to rate their interest for a potential music program from 1 to 5: 1) uninterested 2) somewhat uninterested 3) neutral 4) somewhat interested 5) and interested. More than half of survey respondents rated their interest in a music program at neutral or above neutral.

 

Interest in Strings

The interest in a potential string music program at Jubilee House had a variety of responses. 7 out of 27 responded interested, 4 responded somewhat interested, and 4 responded neutral. 5 responded somewhat uninterested, 1 responded uninterested, and 6 did not respond.
