Our goal was to find a sample representative to Hartford as a whole city, however no research design is perfect. Some trends we noticed in our data that might have affected our findings were:
- Age skewed older: the 25 respondents we were able to interview in person, we estimated that at least 16 of them were over the age of 50 and 20 of them were over the age of 40
- Household income skewed high: Of the online survey respondents who reported they lived in Hartford, the most commonly reported household income was >100k a year
- There were gaps in the data: among the personal interviews, of the 25 people we interviewed, 6 respondents either did not answer or could not answer every question in the set.
Other limitations to be noted are:
- Research was conducted during Spring semester of 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, and so the number of in-person interviews we were able to conduct was limited.
