Pope Park Recreational Center

The Samuel V Arroyo Recreational Center, also known as Pope Park Recreational Center is a recreational facility established for the community located in the coner of Pope Park. It is 79-acres in size is open year round to children and families in the city. The recreational facility was estbalished as an alternative option for the youth in the community other than joining gangs and to prevent them from getting involved in illegal actvities prevalent in the neighborhood.The space is host for community events/gatherings, minor sports leagues. It has an indoor pool, a gymnasium, a multipurpose auditorium, a kitchen and a game room with ping-pong and pool tables. With the help of community organizations such as Harford Areas Rally Together as well as the Park Trust fund, the city was able to raise $3.8 million for the $5 million project. The recreational center is represeantive of a safe space especailly for youth in the community.
